Musical Monday

This is going to be the first in a month of one-hit wonders. Feel free to make more suggestions either here or at the original solicitation post.

Today's is my personal favorite one-hit wonder, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something. My brother-in-law Justin actually gave me the CD with this song for Christmas when Jason and I were dating (I think he had received it as a gift and didn't care for it!). And I'll be honest, I can see why this song was about it for them. This one is all catchy and fun and the rest of the album is completely forgettable.

Not sure why I liked this song so well. I've never seen the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's, nor have I read Capote's novella. I'm completely clueless about it, other than to know that the main character's name is Holly Golightly and she was played by Audrey Hepburn in the film. And apparently the folks in the song both like the movie. But it's got a completely singable chorus, and that's really all I'm looking for in pop music. Also, I probably just like the idea of working to find reasons to stay together instead of looking for reasons to split up. It's a bit of a hopeful song in that respect.

So anyway, here's a little walk back to the mid-90's with some Deep Blue Something. Have a great day!

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over -
When so much is left undone

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."
