Norah Jones has a new collection of songs being released on November 16th. I was lucky to get an advanced copy of ...Featuring, which is an album of duets and collaborations that Norah has done over the past ten years.
What amazed me the most about this album was the diversity of music. To hear Norah singing with legends like Willie Nelson or Dolly Parton one minute and singing with the Foo Fighters or Outkast the next the next is absolutely fascinating to me. But her smokey vocals and incredible keys skills seem to work regardless of the artist she performs with. I absolutely loved listening to her run the gamut of musical styles through the album. Granted, it's a compilation record, so it definitely doesn't have the "flow" that one might expect from a Norah Jones album, but it definitely has her distinctive fingerprints all over it.
Some of my favorite songs on the album include Baby It's Cold Out There (with Willie Nelson), The Best Part (with El Madmo), Here We Go Again (with Ray Charles) and Court & Spark (with Herbie Hancock).
