Review: SodaStream

It's officially Black Friday. Terrifying. I quit doing Black Friday sales when stores started opening at 4am and you had to be there 3 hours before to even think about grabbing the good deals. It's just not worth the hassle AT ALL in my mind. Sleeping is just much more fun.

So to save you time, I'm just going to tell you now, go order a SodaStream.

I received a SodaStream Jet unit to review at our house and honestly, this has been the most exciting thing that our family has received.

The item is incredibly simple to use. It took us no time to set it up at all. Just screw the carbonator into the back of the machine, fill the bottles with cold water, secure the bottle onto the front of the machine, press the button a few times and then add the flavor. The kids are able to do it themselves, which they love. The hardest part we've found is securing the bottle to the machine to add the carbonation, but the older kids can do that without any major problem.

SodaStream has a huge variety of flavors. We received 12 different flavors and while we haven't had the chance to try all of them yet, the ones that we have tried are really excellent (Okay, everyone hated the energy flavor. But to be fair, I hate Red Bull and it tastes just like it. They're just ALL super gross in my opinion. So it's an accurate flavor and if you like Red Bull that's a great substitute.). Most of the flavors cost between $5-7 per bottle and each bottle makes 12 liters (or about 33 cans). The pop flavors are a mix of sugar and Splenda (not high fructose corn syrup) and the diet flavors are made with Splenda. SodaStream also has a line of all-natural flavors with no preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors. They also offer a line of flavors to make a lighter flavored sparkling water.

One of my favorite aspects of the SodaStream is that it has a pretty serious environmental benefit. By using this product, you reduce the amount of waste from bottles and cans and other packaging, and you reduce the amount of pollution used to transport those items. And when your carbonator is empty, you don't throw it away, you recycle it so that it can be used again. Even though we do recycle here, even the energy and water used to create bottles and cans is enormous. Being able to cut back, even just a little bit, on that is a really awesome thing.

Really, I can't recommend this product highly enough. It saves money. It saves the environment. It's fun. It's cute. It's easy to use. I genuinely can't think of a reason NOT to buy this.

To purchase your own SodaStream, go here right away. Then go back to bed. No need to battle the crowds when you can give this gift!

Disclosure: I received a SodaStream Jet for the purpose of review, however my opinions are 100% my own. You can read my full disclosure here.
